Stříbro man faces animal cruelty charges after dog deaths
Authorities in Stříbro have seized three dogs from Josef Novák following violations of veterinary and animal protection laws. Police are also investigating Novák for the suspected killing of a fourth dog, a Border Collie named Nelly. While Novák claimed the animal had been poisoned, a necropsy revealed she died from polytrauma, suggesting she was “brutally killed.”
Despite the ongoing investigation and the seizure of the animals, Novák has reportedly acquired more dogs, including two German Shepherds and another Border Collie. Neighbors have reported continued harsh treatment of the animals. Veterinary inspectors have proposed further seizures, and Novák faces potential fines and legal action for refusing to allow inspectors into his home without the assistance of firefighters.
