Stealth Technologies launches EdgeiQ Portable pilot for underground mining
Stealth Technologies, a subsidiary of Strategic Elements (ASX: SOR), has launched a commercial pilot program for EdgeiQ Portable, a handheld spatial information gathering system designed for underground mining. The device integrates LiDAR scanning, 3D mapping, spatial positioning, and onboard analysis to capture and process data without the need for GPS, internet connectivity, or external cloud computing.
The system was refined through five underground field trials with a Tier 1 mining company. In collaboration with Curtin University’s WA School of Mines, Stealth has also integrated a predictive AI module into the existing hardware. This module, trained on simulated mining rounds, aims to predict overbreak and associated dilution, addressing a significant global cost issue for mining operations.
Based in Western Australia, the company intends to collaborate with local underground mining operators for further development and early commercial deployment before expanding into international markets.
