Steam Early Access titles dominate 2026 top-rated game rankings

Data from Steam250 indicates that Early Access titles are dominating the highest-rated game rankings on Steam for 2026. Six of the top ten best-rated games of the year are titles that transitioned from Early Access to full 1.0 releases.

Palworld and Valheim lead the rankings, holding scores of 9.73 and 9.71 respectively. Other successful graduates in the top ten include TCG Card Shop Simulator (ranked 5th), Fields of Mistria (7th), Timberborn (8th), and Scrap Mechanic (10th).

These titles have outperformed major established franchises such as Resident Evil Requiem and PRAGMATA in user-driven ratings. While the Early Access model remains controversial due to the risks of players purchasing unfinished products, the 2026 data suggests the model allows developers to refine games through player feedback prior to official launch.
