Steam platform experiences partial outage for some users

Steam users on both PC and Steam Deck have reported technical difficulties on October 26, primarily involving an infinite “loading user data” screen. While the Steam Store and Community pages appear to remain functional, the client itself is preventing many users from accessing their game libraries.

Reports of the issue began appearing around 6 am ET. While some monitoring services like SteamDB indicated the service was operational, Down Detector showed a growing number of user reports. Some users have attempted to resolve the issue by running the application as an administrator, while others have suggested that the problem may be related to game purchases or downloads.

Valve has not yet issued a public statement regarding the cause of the outage, which could stem from a backend glitch or external security factors. The impact appears to be a limited outage rather than a total service collapse.
