Stearns County, Minnesota Sets Pedal‑Assist Rules for E‑Bikes in Parks

The Stearns County Parks Department announced guidelines for electric bicycles on county parks and trails. Class 1, 2 and 3 e‑bikes are allowed, but the motor must assist only while the rider is pedaling. Riders must stay below 20 mph, be at least 15 years old, and avoid any other motorized equipment.

The department also asks riders to be courteous, yielding to walkers, horseback riders, and respecting trail conditions, wildlife and other users. The measures were introduced as e‑bike usage continues to grow in the area.
