Steaua may see private investment from foreign consortium

Victor Pițurcă, a prominent figure in Romanian football, has announced that discussions are progressing regarding a potential private takeover of Steaua. The club, currently competing in Liga 2, is a public entity under the Ministry of National Defence, which has limited its eligibility for promotion to the Superliga.

Pițurcă stated that a powerful foreign consortium, with interests spanning sectors such as energy and agriculture, is prepared to invest tens of millions of euros into the club. He noted that while he previously expressed high confidence in the deal, he would now estimate the probability of success at approximately 70-75%.

The transition to private ownership is seen as a critical step to allow the club to compete for promotion and eventually participate in European competitions like the Champions League. Further discussions between the potential investors and the Ministry of National Defence are required to finalize the association.
