Steel manufacturers expand colour-coated steel production in India

Indian steel manufacturers are expanding their production of colour-coated steel to meet rising domestic demand across the infrastructure, automotive, and consumer goods sectors.

Tata Steel Colors Private Limited (TSCPL) has introduced its Colorcoat® range of pre-painted steel products in India. Manufactured at a facility in Jamshedpur, the product line utilizes advanced coating technology designed for hot and warm climates to provide corrosion resistance and thermal performance. The company intends to market these solutions for both domestic and international building-envelope applications.

Separately, Kolkata-based BMW Industries has commissioned a new colour-coated steel line in Bokaro, Jharkhand. This move is part of an Rs 800-crore expansion plan and aligns with the Indian government’s Production Linked Incentive (PLI) Scheme for Speciality Steel, which aims to promote value-added steel manufacturing. BMW Industries noted that the high-end product is increasingly sought after in the renewables, defence, and construction industries.
