Stefan Bogojev released after Macedonian court accepts €55,000 bail

The Criminal Chamber of the Basic Criminal Court in Skopje accepted a bail guarantee of €55,000 offered by Stefan Bogojev and revoked his pre‑trial detention. The court also imposed precautionary measures, including the seizure of his travel document and a ban on leaving the country.

Bogojev briefly addressed the media after his release, stating he would present his case in court and declining to answer questions about the allegations. Members of his entourage attempted to obstruct filming, prompting a terse response from Bogojev. He is under investigation by the State Prosecutor’s Office for organized crime and corruption allegations linked to a public procurement case at the Carinski administration. Former minister Jan Chento criticised the decision, accusing the justice system of applying double standards and calling the outcome "shameful."
