Stefan Mross reflects on career milestones following ARD show cancellation
German musician and presenter Stefan Mross has shared nostalgic reflections on his career via social media, revisiting his early success at the 1989 Grand Prix of Folk Music in Austria. At age 13, Mross won first place in the competition after being discovered by the late Karl Moik, an achievement that earned him a gold record for his song ‘Heimwehmelodie’.
Mross, now 50, is widely recognized for his two-decade tenure as the host of the ARD musical program ‘Immer wieder sonntags’. He hosted the show from 2005 until its final broadcast in September 2026. The cancellation of the program by ARD and SWR was attributed to cost-cutting measures, declining viewership, and a strategic shift toward digital formats. Mross reportedly became emotional during his final appearance on the program.
