Stefan Mross seeks new home for ‘Immer wieder sonntags’ as show ends

The long-running German Schlager music show ‘Immer wieder sonntags’ is coming to an end on Das Erste after more than 30 years. The Südwestrundfunk (SWR) and ARD have decided to discontinue the format due to financial constraints and a strategic shift toward younger audiences.

Moderator Stefan Mross, who has hosted the show since 2005, expressed his determination to continue the format elsewhere. He stated that he is in discussions with various television stations that have shown interest in a continuation. Mross expressed optimism about the future and a desire to continue hosting from the Europa-Park in Rust.

The final regular episode is scheduled to air this Sunday. The decision has drawn significant emotional reactions from fans on social media, many of whom expressed sadness over the loss of the long-standing musical tradition.
