Stefan Mross’ ‘Immer wieder sonntags’ set for final season and emotional fan tribute
The long‑running German entertainment show “Immer wieder sonntags”, hosted by Stefan Mross, will conclude after its 31st season in 2026. The SWR announced that the series will end after 13 live episodes, the first airing on 31 May 2026 and the final broadcast scheduled for 6 September 2026, followed by a best‑of special on 13 September. The broadcaster cited digitalisation pressures, budget constraints and a desire to refresh the programme’s target audience as reasons for cancelling the show.
Mross, who described the decision as “cold” and shocking, continued to present the remaining episodes, featuring a rotating line‑up of schlager and folk‑music guests such as Joey Heindle, Marie Reim, Olaf der Flipper and many others. During the second episode on 7 June, filmed at the Rulantica water park, Mross surprised long‑time fan Rosa Rohrer, a volunteer who washes football shirts for the local FSV Rot‑Weiß Stegen team. The football club appeared on stage, Mross dedicated a song to Rosa, presented her with a bouquet and jerseys, and moved her to tears. The segment highlighted the show’s personal connection with its audience even as it approaches its conclusion.
