Stefan Zweig's Salzburg Villa Put Up for Sale
The historic Paschinger Schlössl in Salzburg, where author Stefan Zweig lived and wrote between 1917 and 1937, is being offered for sale. Billionaire Wolfgang Porsche, chairman of the Porsche AG supervisory board and current owner, had intended to use the property as a private luxury residence but now lists it at €12.7 million.
A petition launched by cultural activist Bernhard Jenny has gathered more than 5,000 signatures, urging that the villa become a public memorial to Zweig. The sale includes a recently approved private tunnel project, estimated to cost an additional €10 million, with construction required to finish by the end of 2028 to retain the permit. No buyer has been identified yet.
