Stefano De Martino unveils Sanremo 2027 schedule and Eurovision selection plan

Stefano De Martino, the new host and artistic director of the Sanremo Music Festival, detailed the programme for the 2027 edition, which will be held from 16 to 20 February at the Teatro Ariston. The festival will feature five evenings, with a new "performance" night on Friday designed to select Italy’s representative for the Eurovision Song Contest, followed by a final on Saturday to crown the Sanremo winner.

De Martino explained that Tuesday and Wednesday will showcase all competing artists, Thursday will be dedicated to cover performances, and on Friday each participant will present a staged version of their entry inspired by live shows. He said the song submissions include a wide variety of new Italian music, many emerging singer‑songwriters, and a resurgence of live‑performed material. Emphasising teamwork, he noted that a strong crew is essential to realise the vision.

Rai is also preparing to host international guests on the Ariston stage, and De Martino mentioned the possibility of veteran rocker Vasco Rossi appearing as a special guest. He expressed gratitude for the trust placed in him following Carlo Conti’s departure and pledged to work hard to uphold the festival’s legacy.
