Stefano Reali to perform propaganda-themed play at Teatro Vittoria

Actor and director Stefano Reali will present the production “Da Cervantes a Gaza – quando tutto ebbe inizio” at Rome’s Teatro Vittoria on October 27 and 28, 2026. The performance explores the relationship between power, propaganda, and the construction of truth over the last four centuries.

Accompanied by cellist Luca Pincini, the show examines how official narratives are built and how information is selected and disseminated. The production draws inspiration from a quote by Malcolm X regarding how narratives can influence perception of oppressors and protectors. It also references the historical experiences of Miguel de Cervantes, who served in the Spanish fleet in the Eastern Mediterranean, including Gaza, before being taken prisoner.

The play aims to address contemporary challenges, such as the speed of digital information and the rise of artificial intelligence in creating visual and narrative content that is difficult to distinguish from authentic testimony.
