Stefano Tacconi discusses football career and health recovery

Former Juventus and Italian national team goalkeeper Stefano Tacconi is touring Italy to present his new book, ‘L’arte di parare’ (The Art of Goalkeeping). The book details his life from childhood through his professional career and his subsequent personal struggles.

Tacconi discussed his health battles, including a cerebral aneurysm and arterial ischemia that led to a coma and significant financial difficulties. He attributed his illness to an excessive lifestyle and constant work travel, noting that he has managed to recover with the support of his family.

In reflections on his football career, Tacconi spoke about the legendary Gigi Riva, describing him as a calm and decent person. He also commented on Cagliari, describing the club as a ‘hot square’ and noting the difficulty of playing at the Sant’Elia stadium, while expressing optimism about the team's use of young players.
