Stefanos Manos funeral attended by Greek political leaders

The funeral of former Greek minister Stefanos Manos took place on August 20, 2026, in Kifisia. The ceremony was attended by a wide range of political figures, including Speaker of the Parliament Nikitas Kaklamanis, Deputy Prime Minister Kostis Hatzidakis, Minister of State Akis Skertsos, and Minister of Interior Thodoris Livanios. Manos, who passed away at age 86, had a political career spanning over three decades. He began his career in 1977 as a Member of Parliament for New Democracy and served in various ministerial roles, including Minister of Environment, Spatial Planning, and Public Works, as well as Minister of National Economy and Finance. In 1998, he left New Democracy and founded the Liberal Party. He was also a co-founder of the Action party.

His professional legacy includes significant infrastructure and urban projects in Athens, such as the redevelopment of Plaka, the implementation of pedestrian zones and bus lanes, the Athens Metro, Spata Airport, and the Attica Odos motorway.
