Stefanos Tsitsipas Qualifies for Montreal Masters Main Draw
Greek world No. 51 Stefanos Tsitsipas entered the qualifying round of the National Bank Open in Montreal at the last minute and defeated 20‑year‑old Canadian Keegan Rice 6‑3, 6‑4 in 74 minutes. The win secured his place in the main draw of the ATP Masters 1000 event.
In the first‑round matchup he will face American qualifier Martin Damm Jr., the world No. 104. Tsitsipas’ entry into the main draw follows his recent ATP title in Gstaad and comes as he works with new coach Thomas Perrin under the guidance of Patrick Mouratoglou.
The tournament, held on outdoor hard courts in Montreal, Canada, will see Tsitsipas potentially meet Brazilian João Fonseca in a later round, depending on the draw.
