Stefanos Tsitsipas reaches US Open round of 16 for the first time

Stefanos Tsitsipas has reached the round of 16 at the US Open for the first time in his career. The 28-year-old Greek player secured his place in the fourth round by defeating 18th seed Jiri Lehecka in four sets with a score of 2-6, 6-1, 7-6(3), 6-1.

After losing the opening set, Tsitsipas demonstrated significant mental resilience and improved consistency. His victory over Lehecka follows a successful first-round win against Arthur Fils. This milestone marks his first advancement to the second week of the US Open in nine appearances.

Tsitsipas, currently ranked No. 53, will next face either American Ben Shelton or Canadian Denis Shapovalov in the fourth round. His recent form has been bolstered by a coaching partnership with Patrick Mouratoglou and Tomas Peric, which has reportedly contributed to greater stability in his game and psychology.
