Stefanos Tsitsipas shares funny taxi encounter in New York

Tennis player Stefanos Tsitsipas shared an anecdote regarding a taxi ride in New York following his elimination from the US Open. After losing to Ben Shelton in the fourth round (6-2, 6-3, 6-4), the Greek player encountered a driver who was unaware he was the subject of conversation.

When the driver asked if the passenger knew Tsitsipas, the player claimed they were “very close.” The driver then remarked, “Tell him to stop taking bathroom breaks like he is looking for Narnia.” Tsitsipas responded by pulling up his hood and pretending to be a tourist from Oslo to avoid revealing his identity.

Despite the loss, Tsitsipas's performance at the US Open marked a significant improvement in his ATP ranking, moving from 85th in July to 44th. His tournament run included victories over Arthur Fils, Lloyd Harris, and Jiří Lehečka.
