Steffen Krach leads SPD campaign amid low polling in Berlin

Steffen Krach, the top candidate for the SPD in the upcoming Berlin state election, is facing significant challenges as his party struggles in recent polls. Currently positioned in fifth place with approximately 15 percent support, the SPD is trailing behind competitors such as the CDU, Die Linke, and the AfD.

Krach has expressed dissatisfaction with the current performance of the SPD, particularly regarding the federal government's social policies. He has criticized recent decisions concerning housing benefits and health reforms, stating they lack social balance. Krach aims to reclaim the Red City Hall from the CDU and strengthen the SPD's profile as a party of social justice.

Despite the difficult polling data, Krach remains focused on the campaign, emphasizing that a few percentage points could significantly alter the political landscape. The election for the Berlin House of Representatives is scheduled for September 20.
