Stegersbach hosts European senior golf championship
The European Golf Association is hosting the ESGA Masters Team Trophy in Stegersbach, Austria. This marks the first time the senior team championship has been held in the country.
The tournament features 120 participants from 20 different nations competing in the 70+ and 75+ age categories. Matches are played using the Four Ball/Best Ball system, where the best shot per hole counts toward the team score.
Billy Mitchell, President of the European Golf Association, praised the course selection, while Alfred Füsselberger, President of the Austrian Senior Golfers, noted the combination of competitive ambition and mutual respect among the long-time competitors. The oldest participant in the championship is 88-year-old Hubert Fuhrmann from Luxembourg.
