Steilshoop school expansion delayed until 2028
The Schule am See in Steilshoop is set to undergo a major expansion to increase capacity and provide additional space for instruction and community services. The project includes a new building with approximately 10,000 square meters of gross floor area.
Planned facilities include 564 square meters of general classroom space, 120 square meters for specialized rooms, 120 square meters for functional and community areas, 48 square meters for teacher facilities, and 120 square meters for the adult education center (Volkshochschule). The school administration will have the autonomy to determine the specific layout and use of these spaces.
While the Senate has confirmed the project will proceed, the completion timeline has been delayed. Originally intended for the 2027/28 school year, the expansion is now expected to be operational in early 2028. This delay means students, parents, and staff must wait longer for the necessary additional space required to accommodate the growing district.
