Střekov Castle Restoration Completed in the Czech Republic

The gothic stone windows and entry portals of Střekov Castle in Ústí nad Labem have been restored after work that began in August 2022 and finished this spring. The project, costing just under CZK 1.3 million, was largely funded by a regional grant covering 60 % of the expenses, with the Lobkowicz family overseeing the restoration as caretakers of the historic site.

Preservation specialists aimed to retain the original medieval features while stabilising the structures for future generations. The renovated lower‑palace windows and portals are now viewable during guided tours and special events, and further repairs are planned for the castle’s sub‑castle buildings to ensure overall stability.

The restoration enhances public access to the cultural monument and safeguards an important piece of Czech heritage.
