Stellantis begins solid‑state battery road tests on Dodge Charger

Stellantis and Factorial Energy have integrated Factorial’s FEST solid‑state battery cells into a Dodge Charger Daytona development vehicle, launching the first solid‑state EV battery road‑testing programme in North America. The cells deliver an energy density of 375 Wh/kg, can charge from 15 % to 90 % in 18 minutes and operate across a thermal range of –30 °C to 45 °C. To accommodate the cells, Stellantis built a patented mechanical battery‑pack architecture on its STLA Large platform and adapted control systems for automotive safety and durability.

Chief Engineering and Technology Officer Ned Curic said the milestone shows the company is bringing solid‑state batteries closer to customers, promising longer range, faster charging and lower cost. Factorial CEO Siyu Huang highlighted the collaboration as a new benchmark for automotive‑grade solid‑state technology. Road testing will now fine‑tune performance, verify reliability and assess safety under real‑world driving conditions, a step that could accelerate commercialization of solid‑state batteries for future electric vehicles.

Factorial, which recently listed on Nasdaq, is also working with other major automakers to expand the technology beyond cars to sectors such as robotics and aerospace.
