Stellantis and Volkswagen embrace circular economy with certified used parts

Major automotive manufacturers Stellantis and Volkswagen are officially adopting circular economy practices by integrating certified used spare parts into their official service networks.

Stellantis has launched the Sustainera brand, which offers reconditioned, repaired, and regenerated components sourced from authorized recovery centers. These parts are provided with the same quality standards and legal warranties as new components. Volkswagen is following a similar model, offering technical inspections for second-life parts such as gearboxes, engines, turbochargers, and electronic modules.

For consumers, these certified parts can offer savings between 30% and 70% compared to new components. Beyond cost savings, the initiative aims to reduce the consumption of raw materials and lower emissions compared to manufacturing new parts from scratch. Strategically, these programs allow manufacturers to retain customers within their official service networks after original warranties expire.
