Stellantis begins local assembly of Leapmotor electric SUVs in Malaysia

Stellantis has commenced the local assembly of two Leapmotor electric SUVs, the C10 and the B10, at its manufacturing facility in Gurun, Kedah, Malaysia. This move follows an investment of approximately 5.3 million euros (roughly 26 million ringgit) to upgrade production lines, infrastructure, and staff training for completely knocked-down (CKD) operations.

The C10 model features a 69.9kWh battery with a WLTP range of up to 424km, while the more compact B10 is equipped with a 67.1kWh battery providing a WLTP range of up to 434km. Both vehicles are intended to serve the Malaysian market and the broader Southeast Asian region.

The Gurun plant, which has a capacity of approximately 60,000 vehicles per year, is becoming a multi-brand hub for Stellantis, capable of handling diverse platforms including Chinese electric models. Both Leapmotor models come with an eight-year or 160,000km battery warranty.
