Stellantis launches on-road tests of solid-state battery electric cars
Stellantis has begun real-world testing of vehicles equipped with solid‑state battery cells developed together with Factorial Energy. The pilot places the cars on public roads to evaluate performance under normal traffic, varying temperatures and daily driving conditions.
Solid‑state batteries are expected to provide higher energy density, longer range, lighter weight, faster charging and improved safety compared with conventional lithium‑ion packs, potentially reducing overheating risk. Stellantis views the program as a strategic step in its electrification roadmap, and successful results could lead to the technology being introduced across future models.
