Stellantis launches Turbo 100 engine for Peugeot, Fiat, and Lancia

Stellantis has launched the new Turbo 100 gasoline engine, positioned as a more reliable and affordable alternative to the previous 1.2 PureTech units. The new 1,199 cm³ engine produces 101 CV and 205 Nm of torque, utilizing technologies such as direct injection and a variable geometry turbocharger to balance performance and fuel consumption.

A key mechanical upgrade is the replacement of the previous timing belt system with a more durable timing chain, a move intended to address reliability concerns and reduce maintenance costs. Approximately 70% of the engine's components have been redesigned, including the engine block, pistons, and connecting rods.

The engine is being integrated into several models across the Peugeot, Fiat, and Lancia brands, including the Peugeot 208, Peugeot 2008, Fiat 600, and the Fiat Grande Panda. By offering a non-hybrid option, Stellantis has been able to lower entry-level vehicle prices; for instance, the Lancia Ypsilon Turbo 100 is significantly cheaper in certain markets than its hybrid counterpart. In the Czech Republic, approximately 80% of Peugeot 208 buyers have opted for this gasoline engine.
