Stellantis Mangualde plant reaches 2 million vehicles produced

The Stellantis manufacturing plant in Mangualde, Portugal, has reached a historic milestone by producing its 2 millionth vehicle. The milestone vehicle, a grey Citroën ë-Berlingo Van from the Berlingo 30th Anniversary special edition, was delivered to a customer in the Leiria region.

Since its inception in 1962 as Citroën Lusitânia, the facility has produced numerous iconic models, including the 2CV, DS, and Méhari. The plant currently employs approximately 900 direct workers and supports over 1,000 indirect jobs, producing around 372 vehicles per day for brands including Peugeot, Citroën, Opel, and Fiat.

In the broader Portuguese market, Stellantis demonstrated strong performance in August 2026, reporting a 17% sales growth that outpaced the general market growth of 10%. The group secured a 22.5% market share for passenger and light commercial vehicles, totaling 3,727 registrations. Stellantis also showed significant momentum in the electric vehicle sector, with its battery electric vehicle (BEV) registrations growing by 131%.
