Stellantis plans Leapmotor-based monobloc pickup for Brazil

Stellantis is reportedly planning to develop a monobloc pickup truck in Brazil based on the Leapmotor C10 platform. This strategic move aims to capitalize on the growing demand for pickups in the Brazilian market, a segment currently being targeted by various Chinese manufacturers.

The proposed vehicle would utilize the Leapmotor C10 structure to allow for rear-wheel drive in both fully electric and Range Extended Electric Vehicle (REEV) versions. The REEV system uses an internal combustion engine solely to charge the battery pack, aiming for high efficiency.

There is potential for Stellantis to implement this REEV technology across other brands in its portfolio, such as Ram and Fiat, for models like the Rampage and Toro. Development is in the early stages, with test mules reportedly being assembled using Leapmotor C10 bodies combined with Fiat Strada components.
