BYD unveils Atto 8 seven-seater SUV with nine-minute fast charging

At the Paris Motor Show, BYD unveiled its new flagship electric seven-seater SUV, the Atto 8, aimed at the European market. The vehicle features the second-generation 115 kWh Blade Battery and introduces Flash Charging technology. This system allows the battery to charge from 10% to 70% in five minutes and reach 97% in just nine minutes. BYD plans to deploy 3,000 ultra-fast charging stations across Europe by the end of 2027 to support this technology.

The Atto 8 will be available in two configurations. The Rear-Wheel Drive (RWD) version delivers 462 hp, a 0-100 km/h time of 8 seconds, and a WLTP range of 653 km. The Excellence All-Wheel Drive (AWD) version increases power to 775 hp, achieves 0-100 km/h in 4.6 seconds, and offers a 602 km range. The SUV measures approximately 5.04 meters in length and includes high-tech interior features such as a 15.6-inch central touchscreen with Google integration and a 26-inch head-up display.

Additionally, BYD is considering expanding its European manufacturing footprint, with discussions regarding a potential factory in France to complement its planned production in Hungary.
