Stellantis starts road trials of solid‑state batteries in Dodge Charger Daytona
Stellantis and Factorial Energy have begun on‑road testing of the first solid‑state battery cells (FEST) integrated into a fleet of Dodge Charger Daytona vehicles. The program, backed by Stellantis' $75 million investment in Factorial Energy, places the batteries onto the STLA Large platform and aims to verify performance, safety and durability before any production rollout.
The solid‑state technology replaces liquid electrolyte with a solid one, promising higher energy density, greater range, shorter charging times, reduced degradation and improved resistance to extreme temperatures, while lowering the risk of leaks or fires. Production at scale remains complex and costly. The Charger models are also slated for a near‑term launch in Europe through KW Automotive. Factorial Energy CEO Siyu Huang said the collaboration “validates the FEST chemistry and advances the next generation of electric vehicles.”
