Stellar (XLM) Chosen as DTCC Settlement Token for Upcoming Tokenization Platform
The Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation (DTCC) announced in May 2026 that it will link its tokenization service to the Stellar network, naming XLM as the settlement token. Live tokenized assets are slated for the first half of 2027, potentially routing trillions of U.S. securities onto Stellar.
Stellar’s native token is trading near $0.18, well below its July 2025 high of $0.52, and analysts note a sharp disconnect between strong network fundamentals and current price. On‑chain activity shows 51,500 daily active addresses, $2.8 billion of real‑world assets tokenized on the network, and $5.5 billion in stablecoin payment volume. Technical analysis points to higher lows and a possible breakout to $0.68‑$0.70, with longer‑term targets of $1.20‑$1.25, representing a potential 294 % rally. Forecasts vary from $0.18 at the bearish end to $2.5 in bullish scenarios.
Recent price movement saw XLM dip to $0.1717 at the end of Q2, falling below its 200‑week moving average. The decline mirrored a classic “buy the rumor, sell the news” pattern after May’s institutional news. Additional developments include Circle’s Cross‑Chain Transfer Protocol on Stellar, euro‑stablecoin payroll services, and tokenized gold launches, while Stellar now supports more than $520 million of non‑U.S. government debt tokenization, overtaking Ethereum in that segment.
