Recent studies have identified top destinations and routes for driving holidays in Europe, highlighting both general country rankings and specific scenic roads.

Hagerty UK research ranked European countries for motorhome and caravan trips based on metrics such as road quality, fuel costs, and sunshine. Spain emerged as the top destination, noted for its extensive road network and high number of FIA racing events. Portugal followed, offering superior road quality and significant sunshine, while Sweden was recognized for its scenic forest and lake routes.

In terms of specific driving experiences, Avis released a ranking of Europe’s most winding roads, utilizing AI to analyze curvature, elevation, and social media popularity. The Stelvio Pass in Italy was named the most winding road, featuring 685 curves over 35 km. The Furka Pass in Switzerland ranked second, while the Val d’Orcia region in Italy was identified as the most picturesque route for travelers.
