Stem cell donation drives continue in Austria and Germany

Stem cell donation efforts are gaining momentum in Austria and Germany as individuals step forward to assist patients with life-threatening illnesses.

In Austria, 19-year-old Julia from Judenburg recently completed a stem cell donation for a patient overseas. Having previously volunteered at a typing event in 2023, she officially registered as a donor in June 2025 through the association ‘Geben für Leben’. She is the 851st donor from the organization’s registry to provide life-saving cells.

In Germany, a registration drive is underway in Siegburg to find a genetic match for 15-year-old Max, who has been battling lymphoma for two years. Following previous registration events during the ‘Siegburg Sommer Live’ concert series, a third opportunity for potential donors to register via a simple cheek swab will take place on August 19 to support his urgent need for a transplant.
