Tamaulipas promotes STEM through science competitions and teacher training

Tamaulipas is hosting several initiatives to promote science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) among students and educators. The ExpoCiencias Tamaulipas 2026 featured 130 student projects from across the state. Thirty of these projects will represent the region at the national ExpoCiencias in Nuevo León, with select winners earning opportunities to participate in international events in Tunisia, Indonesia, and Kuwait.

In support of these academic efforts, the Consejo Tamaulipeco de Ciencia y Tecnología (COTACYT), in collaboration with the Space Center Houston and Misión Educativa MX, launched the Foro Docente STEM Tamaulipas 2026. This forum involves 100 educators and advisors working to strengthen their ability to design and evaluate scientific projects. The top three performing educators will receive accreditation to attend the Space Exploration Educators Conference at the Space Center Houston in February 2027.

Additionally, the Universidad Autónoma de Tamaulipas (UAT) held its ‘Research Day 2026’ to connect youth with scientific research. The event included interactive workshops and exhibitions covering diverse fields such as aquaculture, electronics, and social health issues.
