Milan advances technological innovation through new energy and research hubs

Milan is seeing significant developments in technological and industrial innovation. Siemens has inaugurated Engage X, a new experiential competence center at Casa Siemens. The facility is dedicated to addressing the complexities of electrification and infrastructure digitalization, utilizing digital twins, artificial intelligence, and immersive simulations to support the energy transition.

Simultaneously, the Milano Innovation District (MIND), located on the former Expo 2015 site, continues its evolution into a major innovation hub. Managed by Principia, the district is set to host research centers, universities, and specialized schools, including a significant transfer of students from the State University of Milan. The ecosystem focuses on biotechnology, life sciences, and pharmaceuticals through public-private partnerships.

Additionally, the STEP FuturAbility District in Milan has updated its ‘Future Trends’ installation. Developed in collaboration with Boston Consulting Group, the installation uses advanced LED technology and augmented reality to visualize global digital transformation trends and their projected growth over the next decade.
