Step Terminal launches STEPX Neo AI agent-native smartphone

Step Terminal has officially unveiled the STEPX Neo, its first smartphone designed around a built-in AI agent. The device aims to shift mobile interaction from manual app operation to autonomous task execution through its integrated personal agent, Amoo.

The phone runs on Step AOS 1.0, an agent-native operating system that incorporates long-term memory, task scheduling, and security mechanisms. To facilitate natural interaction, the hardware includes a six-microphone array, a low-power audio chip, and the Whisper 1.0 algorithm to improve voice recognition in noisy environments. A unique MiniLED dot matrix secondary screen on the back displays the status of the Amoo agent.

Starting at 3,999 yuan, the STEPX Neo uses a “full-stack” pricing model that bundles the hardware, the Step AOS operating system, the Step Studio developer tool, and access to Step’s AI models. This package includes a 12-month subscription to the STEPX Token Plan, providing 100 billion tokens per month. The device is scheduled for official sale on October 16, following pre-orders that began on October 13.
