Stephanie Benson recounts life-threatening cancer surgeries

Ghanaian-British singer Stephanie Benson has shared details regarding her battle with cancer and the life-threatening complications she faced during surgery. After receiving diagnoses for both uterine and breast cancer, Benson made the decision to undergo a double mastectomy and a hysterectomy.

Benson described a harrowing experience during her surgical recovery, noting that she spent approximately 34 hours in and out of surgery. She recounted a critical moment when fluid built up in her chest, causing breathing difficulties. She credited a nurse with noticing the emergency and alerting doctors after they had already left for the day.

Reflecting on her medical journey, Benson stated that the decision to remove her uterus and breasts was made quickly to address the cancer. Despite the physical changes and the difficulty of the recovery process, she expressed optimism and a sense of resilience regarding her body.
