Stephany Hollihan, Ecuadorian designer, dies in Kenya

Ecuadorian fashion designer Stephany Hollihan and her husband, Michele Sensi-Contugi, have passed away in Kenya. Hollihan was the founder of Sensi Studio, a creative laboratory established in Guayaquil in 2010.

Hollihan was recognized for elevating traditional Ecuadorian craftsmanship, specifically the toquilla straw hat, into the global luxury market. Under her leadership, Sensi Studio expanded from local roots to international showrooms in New York and Milan, gaining recognition from publications such as Vogue US and Interview Magazine. The brand reached markets in over 15 countries, including Japan, Italy, and Australia.

Following the news of their deaths, Hollihan’s brother, Thomas Hollihan, shared a tribute on social media, describing her as a unique guide and a source of support. He expressed profound grief over the loss of both his sister and her husband.
