Stephen A. Smith attends White House dinner with Donald Trump

ESPN commentator Stephen A. Smith attended a private White House dinner on Thursday, October 15, alongside President Donald Trump, comedian Bill Maher, and musician Kid Rock. The meeting lasted over four hours and included discussions on the economy, midterm elections, and various contentious political issues.

Smith, who describes himself as politically independent, stated his primary motivation for attending was to directly challenge the president on issues affecting Black Americans, specifically regarding employment and federal funding for Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs). Smith noted that Trump did not avoid difficult questions during the candid exchange.

The gathering has drawn significant public attention due to the diverse political views of the attendees. While some view the meeting as a positive example of dialogue between differing perspectives, others have criticized Smith for meeting with the president following previous personal insults directed at him by Trump.
