Stephen Chow's Kung Fu Soccer holds Hong Kong premiere
Stephen Chow's new film, "Kung Fu Soccer," held its Hong Kong premiere on August 8 following a successful mainland China release that earned over 2.2 billion RMB. The event featured a star-studded cast including Carina Lau, Dilraba Dilmurat, Sisley Choi, and Cheung Chi-chung.
Due to scheduling constraints, a full Cantonese version of the film was not completed; however, Chow confirmed that a special post-credits scene was recorded specifically for the Hong Kong release, featuring his voice in Cantonese. The film also includes a tribute to the late Ng Man-tat, leaving an empty seat in a scene to symbolize his presence.
During the premiere, Chow's mother, Ling Po-er, and sister, Chow Man-kei, made rare public appearances to support him. Chow also discussed the collaboration with Carina Lau, noting their long-standing friendship, and praised Sisley Choi for her martial arts training for her role.
