Stephen Chow’s new film, “Kung Fu Women’s Football,” has officially premiered in Hong Kong, earning approximately 1.4 million HKD on its opening day including preview screenings. This follows a massive success in mainland China, where the film reportedly earned over 2 billion RMB within 35 days of its release.

The film has faced mixed reactions in Hong Kong, largely due to the absence of a Cantonese dubbed version. While some viewers have expressed disappointment, director Gordon Au defended the production, suggesting that audiences should maintain an international perspective rather than boycotting films based on language or market focus. Chow has issued an apology for the lack of Cantonese dubbing, citing tight production schedules, and has promised to address this in future streaming releases.
