Stephen Colbert to return to late-night TV and expands tech ventures

Stephen Colbert is set to make his first late-night television appearance since the conclusion of ‘The Late Show with Stephen Colbert’ on CBS. He will appear as a guest on ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!’ on Tuesday, September 15.

Colbert’s tenure at CBS ended in May 2026 following a network decision to cancel the long-running franchise for financial reasons. The time slot has since been sold to Byron Allen’s Allen Media Group.

In addition to his television return, Colbert has transitioned into the technology sector with ‘Scripto’, a cloud-based scriptwriting software. Originally developed by Colbert and writer Rob Dubbin to resolve technical inefficiencies during ‘The Colbert Report’, the program is now being utilized by various major productions, including ‘The Daily Show’, ‘Last Week Tonight with John Oliver’, and both the US and UK versions of ‘Saturday Night Live’.
