Stephen Curry documentary to be released in IMAX

Disney has announced the distribution of a new IMAX documentary titled ‘Portrait of an Artist: Stephen Curry,’ scheduled for exclusive release in IMAX theaters on October 9, 2026. Directed by Gotham Chopra, the film chronicles the Golden State Warriors star’s journey to becoming the NBA’s all-time leader in three-pointers.

The production, which utilized 21 IMAX-certified cameras, captures the mechanics and impact of Curry’s shooting style that has transformed modern basketball. The documentary explores the mindset, discipline, and work ethic behind his career, including his rise from the No. 7 pick in the 2009 NBA Draft to a four-time NBA champion and two-time MVP.

In addition to highlighting his athletic milestones, such as reaching the 4,000 career three-pointer mark, the film weaves together Curry’s artistry with perspectives from various innovators, including Viola Davis, Rick Rubin, Patti Smith, and Jon Batiste. The film is produced by IMAX, Religion of Sports, and Unanimous Media, in association with NBA Entertainment.
