Stephen Curry signs $116M extension with Golden State Warriors
Stephen Curry has signed a two-year, $116 million contract extension with the Golden State Warriors, which includes a player option for the 2028-29 season. The 38-year-old star opted for a deal approximately $20 million below the maximum allowable amount to provide the franchise with greater financial flexibility for future roster moves.
As the team prepares for training camp in Hawaii, Curry expressed confidence in his physical health following a season limited to 43 games due to knee issues. He also shared that he previously managed a rare eye condition, Keratoconus, which causes blurred vision and requires specialized contact lenses.
In contrast to Curry’s readiness, veteran center Kristaps Porzingis is listed as out indefinitely due to a health issue. General Manager Mike Dunleavy Jr. noted that while Porzingis was cleared last week, he will not join the team in Hawaii for the start of camp, though he has not been ruled out for the beginning of the regular season.
