Stephen Eustáquio joins Canada camp shortly after wedding

Canadian midfielder and vice-captain Stephen Eustáquio joined the national team camp in Montreal shortly after his wedding. Approximately 48 hours after tying the knot, Eustáquio traveled to Toronto to participate in the September FIFA international window, appearing as a substitute in a 1-0 victory over Chile.

Eustáquio, who currently plays for Swansea, noted that while he could have chosen to spend more time relaxing, his commitment to being in season and representing Canada was a priority. His immediate return to duty has drawn comparisons to captain Alphonso Davies, who faced online criticism from some fans for taking time off for a honeymoon following his own marriage.

Eustáquio expressed gratitude to coach Jesse Marsch for allowing him a brief window to attend his wedding before reporting to the squad as they begin their 2030 cycle.
