Stephen F. Austin beats Incarnate Word 28-26

Stephen F. Austin defeated Incarnate Word 28-26 in Nacogdoches, Texas, extending their regular-season winning streak to 16 games. The victory moves the Lumberjacks to a 6-0 season record and 3-0 in Southland Conference play.

Quarterback Gavin Rutherford threw three touchdown passes, including an 8-yard connection to Preston Alford and an 8-yard touchdown to Clayton Wayland in the fourth quarter. Despite trailing 20-14 in the third quarter, SFA reclaimed the lead and maintained it through the final minutes.

Incarnate Word attempted a two-point conversion following a late touchdown with 22 seconds remaining, but the attempt was denied. The Lumberjacks' defense contributed significantly with two interceptions, including a fourth for sophomore Makai Frisby, and forced five punts during the matchup.
