Stephen Fry releases new book on Greek mythology in Brazil

British author Stephen Fry has released a new book titled ‘Heróis’ (Heroes) in Brazil, published by Planeta Minotauro. Following his previous work ‘Mythos’, which focused on gods and titans, this new volume shifts the focus to mortal figures of Greek mythology.

The book explores the adventures of legendary characters such as Perseus, Hercules, and Atalanta. Fry’s narrative covers themes of battle, enigma, sacrifice, and the pursuit of glory or survival. Rather than portraying these figures as perfect, the work highlights their flaws, failures, and human contradictions.

Combining erudition with a contemporary tone, the book utilizes humor and a dynamic narrative style to make classical mythology accessible to modern readers. The Brazilian edition features a translation by Val Ivonica and spans approximately 400 pages.
