Stephen Gallacher leads Staysure English Legends after opening round

Stephen Gallacher holds a two-shot lead after the opening round of the Staysure English Legends at Chart Hills. The Scot carded a bogey-free seven-under-par 65, featuring seven birdies.

Lee Westwood and Sweden’s Mikael Lundberg sit in second place, both finishing with five-under-par 67s. Westwood, making his competitive debut on the Staysure Legends Tour, recovered from a bogey on the 11th hole with a birdie on the 14th to remain in contention.

Following closely in fourth place are David Drysdale, Peter Baker, and Van Phillips, all tied at four-under after shooting 68s. Gallacher, currently third in the Order of Merit, is looking to secure his first victory on the Staysure Legends Tour while attempting to close the gap on season leader Jamie Donaldson, who is not competing this week.
